Spitak Rescue Center

The Spitak Rescue Center is a non-governmental organization, established in 1988 after a devastating earthquake. Technical support and professional training was provided mostly by German Red Cross. All activities of Rescue Team are based on volunteer principle. The main initiators of establishment and current core of Rescue Team are mountaineers with high level of proficiency and many years of experience. The main object of Spitak is to rescue people and secure human life in disaster areas and emergency situations.

Spitak” Rescue Center conduct rescue work in the main areas: • Large Disaster - earthquakes, landslides, flood, technological disasters; • Mountain Rescue - avalanches, rescue activities in hard-to-reach and alpine areas, on ski-, mountaineering- and tourism routs, as well as in mines and underground caves;
