About Us

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra performs mainly in the summertime, with a membership that includes many of the finest musicians in the Boston area. Its mission is strongly oriented toward inclusiveness and service to the whole community. The orchestra strives to support the notion of "one city through art and culture," as expressed by social activist Hubie Jones.

Founded in 2001 by Conductor Charles Ansbacher, The Boston Landmarks Orchestra is unusual amongst professional ensembles in that it performs all its concerts for free. Since 2007, its primary venue has been the DCR's Hatch Shell on Boston's Charles River Esplanade, but it also performs concerts and other activities in the neighborhoods of Greater Boston.
