About Us

Panchabhuta Conservation Foundation is a small community NGO based in Kagal, Karnataka, near the hyper-biodiverse Aghanashini River estuary. We're a young NGO, formally registered in March 2012; our mission is conservation of ecology, preservation of local culture and strong sustainability in development.

We conduct research and programing related to natural resource dependency, alternative agriculture (namely permaculture), traditional ecological knowledge, ecological sanitation, sustainable architecture, social enterprise and the like. We work in communities that border a mostly pristine estuary. Approximately 14,000 households populate more than 30 census villages and the vast majority are dependent in one way or another on estuarine  ecosystem services. Our social landscape ranges from mangrove wetlands to coastal highlands.
