Glastonbury Abbey

  • About Us

Through the years many people have come to Glastonbury for regular worship, for spiritual counselling, for a respite from the stress and pressures of daily demands. The monks welcome friends, neighbors and visitors to share in the daily worship of common prayer, in the silence of reflection, in the natural beauty of the sixty-five wooded acres, and in the witness of the community to their values.. Persons of all faiths, and especially those experiencing struggle and search for meaning, are welcome at the monastery to reflect in peace or to join the monks at their prayer.

The monks of Glastonbury engage in a diversity of ministries both at the Abbey and in the local community. Glastonbury Abbey has become a regional center of education, cultural, social and spiritual outreach for our south shore of Boston community and beyond. Our grounds and facilities are available to numerous community service organizations (such as 12-step recovery programs), as well as to spiriutal retreatants. The Abbey is home for inter-faith dialogue through its popular annual lecture series, “LISTENING TO OTHER VOICES,” and for many other spiritual enrichment programs, which are offered free to the public. The monks and volunteers prepare meals for homeless shelters and collect food for those in need. They offer Sunday suppers at the Abbey for those who suffer so that they may enjoy a home cooked, nutritional meals with others. Glastonbury Abbey is a spiriutal oasis; all are welcome!
