The Claremont Institute
About Us
With its mission to “to teach the practical application of the
principles of the American Founding to the next generation of Conservative
leaders, and to build them into a community dedicated to preserving
constitutional government,” the Claremont Institute has for over 30 years
been a strong and effective leader in the movement for limited government, free
markets, and a strong national defense. Founded in1979, the Claremont Institute
publishes the Claremont Review of Books,
sponsors the Publius, Lincoln and John Marshall Fellowships for rising
conservative leaders, and administers a variety of programs on politics and
constitutionalism. The Claremont Institute’s focus is on the principles that must inform sound policy
rather than the day-to-day policy itself. A recovery of the American idea
requires engaging and winning the battle of ideas.
