About Us

Community Crisis Services, Inc. (CCSI) serves individuals and families in crisis throughout Prince George's County every hour of every day of the year. We are often the first point of contact for individuals in crisis – seeking disaster services, shelter placement, social services, to report child or adult abuse, suicide prevention/ intervention counseling, or simply seeking a compassionate listener. This past year, our agency answered more than 160,000 calls from individuals and families in crisis and in need, including over 42,000 calls seeking homeless services. Our Warm Nights partnership with the Department of Social Services and over 35 congregations provided over 7,626 bednights of shelter and remains the only Metro DC area emergency hypothermia shelter that accommodates families with children.

Homeless services include: The toll-free Homeless Hotline – connecting county residents with available shelter/ support services; the Warm Nights Emergency Hypothermia Shelter – offering shelter, sustenance and support to individuals and families with children from November through April; and Homeless Prevention/ Shelter Diversion – problem solving to retain/ regain stable housing and partnering with area property management companies for affordable housing opportunities.

Crisis Services include: local and national suicide hotlines, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Maryland Youth Crisis hotline and the Trevor Lifeline – offering 24hr/365 access to hotline counselors ready to listen, give support and work with callers' needs – grounded in over 40hrs of instruction, including SAMHSA "best practice" suicide intervention (ASIST) training; Child & Adult Protective Services – recording/ processing reports of child/adult abuse and neglect for investigation, including after-hours emergency referral; and Crisis Response System – connecting Prince George's County residents with psychiatric emergencies with mobile crisis intervention.

Information and Referral Services include: 211 Maryland – linking callers with health and human services information/ referrals and partnering in crisis response, disaster and emergency services; and Prince George's County OHEP/MEAP status reporting – streamlining/ improving responsiveness in helping low-income Marylanders pay their heating bills, minimize heating crises, and make energy costs more affordable.

Community Outreach/ Training Services include: Community inclusive suicide awareness conferences, suicide alertness (safeTALK) and intervention (ASIST) training, health fairs and homeless education – to build awareness and capacity, and empower the residents of Prince George's County.
