Strengthening and Empowering the Lives of Females Inc.

SELF is safe haven where girls can freely express themselves and develop on their own terms. We provide a cultural rite of passage program that encourages high school girls of color (ages 15-19) to confidently embark on the amazing journey of self-discovery so they can transition into adulthood with a fuller understanding of themselves, the gifts they possess as women and how it relates to real life experiences. Our curriculum based program allows the girls to identify their talents, skills, interest and goals while reclaiming their “truth” and break hold from limitations and labels that are created by society. Our sessions include cultural outings, a weekend retreats, a transitioning ceremony, journalizing and mentoring to make our sessions interactive and to accommodate all learning styles.
