DiverseWorks is a non-profit art center dedicated to presenting new visual, performing, and literary art. DiverseWorks is a place where the process of creating art is valued and where artists can test new ideas in the public arena. By encouraging the investigation of current artistic, cultural and social issues, DiverseWorks builds, educates, and sustains audiences for contemporary art.
Through its commissions, residencies and artist services, DiverseWorks builds a network of artists and audiences that explore cultural and aesthetic issues. Through creative process and product, artists and audiences engage in a dialogue that deepens understanding of humanity and the time in which we live. DiverseWorks, through our artist services, commissions and residencies, strengthens the artist community by giving them opportunities to expand their practice, hone their vision and advocate for art as an integral part of everyday life. Through lectures, community engagement activities, small-scale discussions and co-presentation opportunities, DiverseWorks strengthens Houston by bringing creative thinkers to Houston. Through these dialogues with artists, audiences and communities, DiverseWorks builds a larger audience for contemporary art and a case for innovation that has re-defined what artistic innovation can achieve.
