About Us

The Container Recycling Institute provides research, education and advocacy to promote the recycling of used beverage containers and other packaging. Our mission is to make North America a global model for the collection and quality recovery of these materials. We do this by conducting original research on policies and practices that increase recycling; by analyzing the economic, environmental, social and energy impacts of container recovery and wasting; by identifying and evaluating a wide range of reuse and recycling options, including deposit-return; by creating and maintaining numerous databases on container manufacturing, consumption and recycling; by creating and hosting networks, webinars and forums; by maintaining strong communications and media relations; and by working closely with individuals, organizations, manufacturers, legislators, academics and local, state and federal government entities. The collaborative nature of our efforts, coupled with our reputation for objectivity, accuracy and diplomacy, are the keys to CRI's effectiveness.
