The need is great! More than 225,000 adults in the Kansas City area are functionally illiterate. At any one time, dozens are waiting for a chance to learn reading and writing skills that can lead to a better life.

You can give that chance to someone who desperately wants to succeed at a job... who wants to help their children with homework... who wants to gain the confidence to meet challenges they once considered insurmountable.

Many passionate literacy advocates have responded and reached out to help. We call them volunteers. Our students call them heroes. Be one of them!
