    About Us

The Rooted Wellness Institute™ is a Black woman-led nonprofit based in Washington, DC, committed to shifting the mental health and wellness landscape by centering culture, identity, and collective care. We serve Black women and communities who have historically been excluded from affirming, accessible, and culturally grounded wellness spaces.

Our work blends education, healing practices, and community storytelling to affirm the fullness of who we are—because we believe wellness shouldn’t require code-switching, erasure, or survival mode. From school-based mental health education to creative healing spaces, we hold space for people to feel seen, supported, and rooted.

We operate from a foundation of joy, rest, and resistance, and we believe that wellness work is liberation work. Whether through digital storytelling, trauma-informed workshops, or affirming curriculum, we are here to nourish both individual and collective healing.
