Black Mountain SOLE

Black Mountain SOLE is the world’s first self-organized learning environment (SOLE) for higher education. We provide a residential campus with the infrastructure and personnel necessary to support collaboration, individual work, and group events. Our programs incorporate progressive ideas from leading educational innovators and combine those principles with a residential community of smart, motivated people.

Each of our individual programs serve distinct learning goals, but the common thread is that they are all inspired by the idea that human curiosity is the best motivation for learning. An education should be personalized and engaging, existing deliberately and solely for the learner. Our programs are led by the student with the guidance of their personal mentors and dedicated facilitators.
