About Us

Crossing Borders is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation based in Humlebaek, Denmark with cooperating partners in Egypt, Finland, Germany, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen.

The primary aim of Crossing Borders is to provide impartial dialogue space and empowering skills training for youth and educators, with a special focus on areas of conflicts, so that they are able to more fully participate in the development processes of their societies.

The methods and principles of Crossing Borders are based on ongoing dialogue, equal participation, shared ownership and concrete joint output. Moreover, educational elements offer immediate and long term benefits to the participants and their communities.

The Need for Crossing Borders Dialogue

As global integration increases mutual-dependency in the world, the need for sound intercultural knowledge and understanding, communication and cooperation skills is no longer a luxury: it is vital.

Intercultural communication and networking skills have become necessary life competencies and social qualifications for a more peaceful and cooperative coexistence within and between increasingly multicultural societies.

The increasing accumulation of knowledge and material wealth, instant communication technologies and pervasive global transport systems have not reduced inter-group misunderstandings or abolished violent conflicts within and between societies.

Thus, the need to apply the concept of cross-border dialogue, mutual learning and non-violent communication has become more urgent today than ever before. Offering youth leaders, media people and educators relevant skills training and civic education opportunities will enable them to confidently participate in the development processes that affect their present lives and future opportunities as adult members and leaders of society.

Who can participate in Crossing Borders Programmes?

CB activities, programmes and publications are open to all youth, media people and educators who are able to participate and interested in learning to live, study and cooperate with colleagues from other cultures, countries and opinion. For CB, the more diverse a group is, the more interesting. We see diversity as an asset that makes life richer and more interesting overall.
