the rosemary pencil foundation
The mission of The Rosemary Pencil Foundation, Inc is to further the education of children in Third World countries, beginning with Malawi in South-East Africa.
Primary (elementary) school education in Malawi is free but for most village children Secondary School, the equivalent of High School, requires tuition fees. Once children complete Primary School their education can end. They are between 13-17 years old. The students we select for our scholarship program have passed their final exams at primary school and are keen to continue their education but do not have the financial resources to do so. Education is the means for many of these children - particularly in rural areas - to break the cycle of deprivation and carve out a new life. After completing secondary school, students can apply to Polytechnic or the University of Malawi. The Rosemary Pencil Foundation is raising money to award Scholarships in higher education also.
We work closely with organizations and individuals in Malawi and select candidates for these Scholarships carefully. The vetting process of candidates is extremely thorough.
