South Asian Village Empowerment Intl

Our mission is the upliftment of socially and economically disadvantaged rural populations in Northern Tamilnadu, South India. We work to this end by supporting after school study centers, examination coaching programs, women's vocational training centers, library programs, construction of community centers, primary school toilets, village level water projects, primary health clinics and youth sports programs. All our programs, including medical services and medications provided through our clinic, are completely free to the public we serve.

South Asian Village Empowerment is primarily the USA based non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to support financially the work of our exclusive partner in India, Tamilnadu Village Outreach, a Registered Charitable Trust. We are actively seeking medium and long-term volunteers with skills in the areas of teaching English as a foreign language, sewing and handicrafts, art and sports, medical science, computer science, hydrology and water systems and grant writing. We do not charge a fee to participants but they are expected to be self-supporting and able to fund any new projects or programs. Excellent room and board facilities are available in Mamallapuram, Tamilnadu for under $150 a month.
