Who We Are

Promoting Excellence in Graduate Studies (PEGS) is a TItle-V Grant awarded to CSUDH in October of 2010. It is a multi-faceted program for graduate students designed to: improve their critical thinking, strengthen their research and writing skills, enhance their intellectual development, promote graduate-level scholarship, and strengthen graduate students' ties to the academic community. PEGS is a collective group of professors and scholars committed to inspiring and supporting academic excellence among the graduate students we serve.

What We Do

PEGS provides an array of services to meet the needs of graduate students in a variety of areas including writing, research, and other professional pursuits. One of the main tenets of the PEGS philosophy is to empower students to take ownership of their education; therefore, PEGS' services are geared to provide the tools that the student needs to take control of their learning and to extend improvements in research and writing into the professional world. PEGS' programs include a student leadership component that offers graduate students an opportunity to work in a variety of positions that enhance their education and provide real-world work experience

Our Mission

PEGS offers an outstanding set of programs committed to preparing graduates for lifelong learning experiences, and empowering students to make a difference in the global community through excellence in teaching and research. The PEGS grant serves Hispanic and under-represented, low-income graduate students, and offers a structured and coherent foundation for closing educational gaps while providing students with a personalized approach to teaching and learning.
