    Amazon Promise/Volunteer Medical Organization Amazon Promise is a non-profit organization formed to provide desperately needed medical care to remote, poverty-stricken populations living in remote villages of the Upper Amazon Basin of Northeastern Peru. We have been working in these communities since 1993, and we conduct routine outreach, local training, and healthcare education to 32 jungle villages located throughout the state of Loreto. Our headquarters is located in Iquitos, Peru. We also provide medical services to residents of neighboring Belen, the poor slum area of Iquitos

    Conditions are extreme, and depending on the area of the particular expedtion, the teams either stay in a jungle lodge or camp in tents.
