Pushing the Envelope Farm

  • About Us

Pushing the Envelope Farm is a Jewish community and educational center near Chicago, Illinois. Our 14-acre site features community gardens, small scale producation of organic market crops, berry patches, wooded areas, and camp grounds. We keep dairy goats, laying hens, and honey bees, and farm according to Jewish ethics. We give visitors a chance to experience sustainable agriculture through hands-on workshops and activities.

Our Mission: We foster vibrant communal life by exploring Jewish agricultural traditions and contemporary ecological understanding. Through hands-on learning based in ecological design, personal interaction with nature, and an exploration of Jewish thought, we inspire, build, and create a more sustainable future.
