Bruin Feminists for Equality
The only student organization at UCLA devoted exclusively to the feminist movement and everything that is pro-woman.
Feminism n. the policy, practice, and advocacy of political, economic, and social equality for women. Feminist adj. or n. a person who advocates feminism.
We hold these truths to be self evident: 1. Women’s rights are human rights. 2. Reproductive rights are human rights. 3. Sexism, racism, classism, heterosexism and many other negative “isms” harm women, men, and transgendered peoples. 4. Feminism is the tool to understand and rise up against social injustice and inequality. 5. Feminism is not just something you learn about in a Women’s Studies course; it is an entire worldview; it is a way of life, a way of experiencing and learning about the world around one; a way of building communities and a way of creating positive and lasting social change.
Our organization is built upon the Feminist Majority Foundation’s philosophy that the most effective activism is informed activism, or study to action. Our program provides progressive UCLA students with opportunities to learn about timely feminist issues, develop their leadership and organizing skills, and connect with the larger pro-choice and feminist movements at the grassroots, national, and global levels.
