About Us
The Urban Child Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children from conception to age three in Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee.
Our Story
It’s been said before that simple change can bring about tremendous results. It’s often the slightest shift, the smallest adjustment, or the most unexpected turn that will lead to powerful transformation. So it is with the issues facing the children of Memphis and Shelby County.
Through data-driven research and result-oriented initiatives, we have discovered that many of these problems can be solved by making a few easy changes during the critical ages of zero to three. Yes, 0-3.
With this in mind, we have dedicated our work to improving the lives of children and increasing the social capital of Memphis by taking this knowledge and research and turning it into meaningful action that changes existing policies, and in turn, changes lives.
