Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC) is a national nonprofit committed to making healthcare better to improve the well-being of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). We work to change how healthcare is taught, delivered, and paid for. We bring together the disability and healthcare communities to co-create solutions in an inclusive, respectful, and goal-oriented manner. Our partners include hundreds of self-advocates and family members, major academic health centers, state and federal agencies, national and regional insurance companies, sister disability organizations, researchers, and other thought leaders. IEC was founded by nationally recognized healthcare leaders with expertise in clinical care, health system administration, insurance, and policy. Many of us also have the lived experience of having an IDD and/or supporting loved ones with IDD.
