About Us

The Kiyosato Educational Experiment Project (KEEP) is an environmental and agricultural education, economic and community development organization located in Kiyosato, Yamanashi in the Yatsugatake Highlands of Japan. The American Committee for KEEP, Inc. (ACK) has supported KEEP’s mission as its U.S. partner with technical, program and financial assistance for more than 60 years. KEEP began in 1938 as a Christian Camp and Leadership Center called Seisen Ryo. Incorporated 10 years later, the founding principles were: Food, Health, Faith, and Hope for Youth. The ACK and KEEP contribute to world peace through socio-economic and community development by providing environmental and agricultural education, international outreach and exchange programs, and supporting environmental conservation and advocacy. Although KEEP’s mission was founded upon the Christian principal of service to others, programming is free of religious content and provides services without regard to gender, race, or religion.
