About Us

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is the only worldwide organization dedicated to the fight against osteoporosis. It is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization which brings together scientists, physicians, patient and medical societies on all continents in a common mission to achieve a 'a world without fragility fractures, in which healthy mobility is a reality for all'. 

IOF works with more than 230 member societies in 99 countries or regions, in addition to other health care-related organizations, to advance the understanding of osteoporosis and to promote awareness, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease worldwide.
Among its numerous programs and activities, IOF mobilizes the global osteoporosis movement on World Osteoporosis Day every year in order to raise awareness of osteoporosis and to empower people to take action for bone health.
