About Us

Equal Origins unlocks the potential of coffee farming women, youth and their families,

promotes equitable opportunities for their communities to thrive,

and catalyzes bold industry action toward a supply chain that works for everyone.

Equal Origins (formerly the Partnership for Gender Equity (PGE)) was founded in 2014 by the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) as a collaborative research and development initiative to better understand the link between gender equity and supply chain resilience and determine the best way to respond. Uniting key coffee sector actors—private companies, development agencies, research institutions and practitioners—Equal Origins works to harness the collaborative spirit of the coffee industry to address the gender gap in the value chain.
