About Us

The African American Islamic Institute (AAII)is an international NGO with affiliates in sixteen nations, eleven of which are located in sub-Saharan Africa. AAII's mission is to develop a capability for sustainable human and natural resource development that focuses on human rights, health care, food and water availability, alleviation of poverty and the promotion of peace. The teachings of Islam provide the foundation of AAII's humanitarian activities: feed the hungry, care for the sick, protect the interests of women and children, teach the unlettered, pursue knowledge and foster peace among mankind. Since 1998, AAII has been in General Consultative Relationship with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

AAII seeks volunteers to teach English, Mathematics and Computer Literacy in its schools, and physicians, nurses, midwives, dentists and other health care professionals for it two clinics that provide primary and reproductive health care to severely medically underserved communities.
