San Francisco Rising
We are a new grassroots alliance of base-building community organizations in San Francisco who have come together to build the political power of poor and working class people of color in San Francisco. We are based in San Francisco’s working class communities of color: Causa Justa :: Just Cause (CJJC), Chinese Progressive Association (CPA), Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth, Filipino Community Center (FCC), Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA), People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER), People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Rights (PODER), South of Market Community Action Network (SOMCAN), and SF Day Labor Program/La Colectiva de Mujeres.
We are each building power in our neighborhoods but seek to seize, and build upon, our collective electoral experience. We share a long-term vision for racial and economic justice, and a commitment to run sophisticated operations during annual election cycles to produce real victories. We see electoral organizing as a strategy that should complement and be organically integrated with, our movement-building strategies.
