About Us

GirlVentures' mission is to empower adolescent girls to develop and express their strengths through school year and summer outdoor adventure and leadership courses. Our programs include camping, rock climbing, kayaking and backpacking expeditions, as well as a robust curriculum that helps girls live healthy lives, relate wisely to one another and the environment, and lead with compassion. Through their experiences, girls bring back a renewed sense of character and confidence to their homes, schools and communities.

GirlVentures is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since 1997, we have had significant, positive impact on diverse Bay Area girls, helping them to explore identity, trust and social justice through outdoor adventure and leadership programs.

GirlVentures deliberately brings together girls from diverse backgrounds to explore self, community, culture, conflict resolution techniques and leadership styles. They learn to make thoughtful, strategic decisions, develop effective communication skills, become strong allies, and build healthier communities. Two thirds of girls receive partial to full scholarships to participate in our programs.
