New Media Rights

New Media Rights offers free legal assistance on copyright and online publishing. We advise creators and Internet users on a 1-to-1 basis regarding copyright, trademark, open source software licensing, open source creative licenses including Creative Commons (We help creators understand the benefits and considerations in using Creative Commons licenses on their own works, as well as how to find CC-licensed works creators can reuse in their own works.), video releases, end user license agreements, and liability for hosting user generated content, among other areas.

Our partnership with Berkman Center's Online Legal Media network and EFF offer exemplary resources for our organization to draw from and contribute too.

New Media Rights also provides a free public studio and equipment, and free legal resources, to bloggers, podcasters, citizen journalists, software developers, and other independent creators, as well as nonprofits.
