  • About Us

    Jatun Sacha is non-profit environmental conservation organization established in 1989 and has locations throughout Ecuador. Jatun Sacha is dedicated to promoting the conservation of forest, aquatic, and páramo ecosystems of Ecuador through technical training, scientific research, environmental education, community development, sustainable management of natural resources, and the development of leaders with a high participation of ethnic groups and women to improve the quality of life of the community.

    We offer a volunteer program for people interested in contributing to conservation. Volunteers have the opportunity to do the following activities:

    • Reforestation
    • Agriculture
    • Agroforestry
    • Community Development
    • Productive Projects
    • Environmental Education
    • Natural Conservation (Land)
    • Natural Conservation (Sea)
    • Rural Development

    Jatun Sacha manages 5 biological reserves thoughout Ecuador in the following locations:

    • Jatun Sacha Biological Station: Amazon Region
    • Guandera Biological Station: Cold Region- The Andes
    • Bilsa Biological Station: Coast Region
    • El Congal Biological Station: Coast Region
    • San Cristóbal Biological Station: The Galapagos Islands

    Our volunteer opportunities are ongoing positions, so you have the flexibility to choose your own dates. We do recommend a minimum 2 week commitment and welcome you to stay as long as you would like!
