  • About Us

Friends of Co-Madres is a solidarity group in the tradition of the Friends of Co-Madres, groups that existed in the 1980s and 1990s to spread the message and work of Co-Madres outside of the borders of El Salvador. Co-Madres is a group of women who have engaged in nonviolent struggle since 1977 to discover the true stories behind the disappearances and murders of their loved ones, who were victims of state violence during the United States-funded Salvadoran Civil war of 1980-1992. We carry on their tradition of promoting human rights, searching for the truth and seeking justice for civilian victims of war. We do so by supporting their work in El Salvador, spreading the message of their work, engaging in various solidarity activities and holding informational events and workshops in the United States.
