  • About Us

REDES (or NEEDS in English: “Network for Ecovillage Emergence and Development in the Sahel”) promotes regenerative, ecovillage principles and practices in Senegal’s rural communities. It creates overlapping communities of students, staff, homestays, experts, university teachers, community leaders and youth to actively support the transition of traditional villages into ecovillages.

REDES is registered and operates in Senegal. The  vision of the organisation is to expand its activities to all West Africa countries and communities. It works for a greener, more peaceful, and culturally and economically vibrant Sahel through education, international cooperation, and the implementation of community programs (reforestation, permaculture, alternative energy, food processing and conservation, beekeeping, fish farming, classroom construction and distribution of school materials).

REDES is the subregional branch of the Global Ecovillage Network/ Africa (www.gen-africa.org)
