Barzani Charity Foundation
The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) is an independent charity and non-profit organization formed in 2005 in the Kurdistan Region capital city of Erbil to serve the impoverished sector of Kurdistan and greater Iraq. Today the BCF's role has expanded to provide support to refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) affected by the war in Iraq and Syria. The BCF employs both professional field experts and volunteers to carry out its mission.
BCF dedicates its humanitarian efforts to assisting poor people, refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) in Kurdistan and greater Iraq by providing medical services, shelter, education and the reconstruction of homes, villages and infrastructure destroyed by war. The Barzani Charity Foundation’s philosophy is based on the famous quote of revolutionary leader Mustafa Barzani, “It is an honor for a man to serve his people”.
BCF projects are supported by private donors and corporations in the Kurdistan Region as well as by international agencies such as the United Nations (UN), World Food Program (WFP), UAE Red Crescent and United State’s organization (LDS). Every dollar donated to the BCF is directly used for charitable projects in the region.
The BCF has provided aid and humanitarian assistance to all refugees and IDPs across the three Kurdistan Region Provinces which currently host more than 1.8 million refugees from Iraq and Syria. BCF is the main provider of World Food Program assistance in Kurdistan Region refugee camps.
The main office of Barzani Charity Foundation is in Erbil and there are offices in Sulaiymaniah, Dohuk, Kirku, Garmian Region and soon to be, Washington, DC.
