Raise for the Future Uganda

Raise for the Future Uganda (RATFU) works to improves socio-economic lives of war affected young people in Northern Uganda through education, human rights protection,peace building, health, food security and livelihood . Based in Attiak Sub-County Amuru District, Northern Uganda, Raise for the Future Uganda works towards transformation of socio-economic lives of war affected young people. We provides child and youth focused programs which work to provide current and long term solutions to young peoples' needs and challenges in Amuru District, Northern Uganda. We support war affected young people and their households. We are registered (CDR/570 9/0414/B) not for profit youthfocused local community Based Organizationinitiatedby group of young people in2006to championthesocio economic transformation of lives of war affected young people in Northern Uganda. The organization emergedas a result of informal discussions and sharing of experiences between adults and young people from Amuru District on issues affecting young people in the post conflict period.

Our Vision:We envision society in which every young people enjoy rights and opportunities to socio-economic development.

Our Mission: Our mission is to immediately transform the socio-economic lives of war affected young people in Northern Uganda.

Our Strategic Objectives

1. To empower and create sustainable livelihood through socio-economic security, care and support
2. To promote and strengthen legal and policy frame work through human rights protection, legal support and advocacy.
3. To reduce barriers to socio-economic development through linking children and youth to essential social services like education and health.
4. To enhance the capacity of young people through trainings, etc
5. To prevent relapse of conflict through involvement of young people in peace building initiatives.
6. To reduce cases HIV new infections and general prevalence rate and its socio-economic effects through community mobilization, Health outreach, Behavioral Change Communication and awareness activities.
7. To secure land rights and increase access to land for disadvantaged young persons.
8. Enhance participation of young people in protection and conservation of natural resources and environment through tree planting, community awareness activities, etc.

Ox -plough cultivation by Kal East youth farmer's group.

Community mobilization and sensitization on HIV/AIDS prevention and child protection.

Village Saving and Loan Association group formation.

Distribution of IECs and play materials.

Promotion of games and sport for young people.

Life skills and adolescent sexual reproductive health education sessions. Mobilizing young people to participate in planning, local, national and international advocacy forum/activitiesddressing current and long term issues affecting young people:-

Absolute Poverty

Youth unemployment Stigma and discrimination of young people living with HIV and AIDS, formerly abducted and other sexual reproductive health issues.

Limited access to quality education (Formal, alternative education programmes and vocational)

Increase cases of mal-nutrition, HIV prevalence, mental health, child abuse, neglect, labour and trafficking

Limited access to reproductive health services like FP, HIV prevention and information.
