About Us

The Marat Karpeka Lemur Foundation exists because more than 90% of lemur species are now facing extinction, making them the most threatened group of mammals on earth. MKLF hopes to lead the effort to save these remarkable creatures. We are committed to education and the conservation of lemurs and their habitats.

What we do

The Marat Karpeka Lemur Foundation Helps local Communities:
  • Building wells and providing villages with access to clear water
  • Improve transportation structure with roads and trails
  • Cooperation with local communities and educating future generations
  • Saving Madagascar’s biodiversity by ensuring permanent presence of scientists and decreasing poaching
  • Reforestation of Madagascar and improved quality of life for poor residents
  • Developing ecotourism camps and bring more attention to the problem of lemur extinction
