Just the Tip of Feminism (formally known as The Solidarity Project)

About Us

Project Description:Just the Tip of Feminism, a documentary film project, works to de-stigmatize feminism, make space for critical male involvement and increased accountability. By following the lives of relatable male feminists and avoiding jargon and accusations, we inspire college-aged men to question certain behaviors such as sexual bullying, sex tourism, abuse, harassment and rape. Collaborating with celebrities, fraternities, and sororities, this film, college tour with discussion, and interactive website will create a community for male feminist involvement.

Film Description:

Just the Tip of Feminism is a feature-length documentary that follows five relatable guys who overturn the anti-male stigma attached to feminism. From the frat-boy athlete who discourages sexual bullying, to a musician who incorporates pro-feminist themes into his music. Through the eyes of these guys we see how their belief in ending sexism, sexual exploitation and oppression hasn’t castrated them, but is rather a part of who they are.

Mission:

The mission of Just the Tip of Feminism is to de-stigmatize feminism and create a more inclusive space for men to join the movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation and oppression. Since we value male support and contribution to the movement we work through various platforms to open feminism up to men 18-30 years old, with a principal focus on college-aged men. Our mission is to work collaboratively to end sexual bullying, sex tourism, rape, relationship abuse, harassment and cat-calling, while increasing accountability among peers. We strive to bring guys together to learn more about feminism, identify as feminists and create a community where their interest in women’s rights can grow.

Vision: Just the Tip of Feminism strives for a day where sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression are no longer tolerated in our culture, communities, or among our youth. We strive for the day negative stigmas are removed from feminism and men and women openly and enthusiastically identify as feminists. We believe in the day when men and women mobilize to bring change and feminist thought to their communities. We believe this documentary, tour, and interactive website provide a safe space for a new demographic to prioritize the end of sexism, sexist exploitation and oppression.

Values: We believe in an inclusive feminism. We believe feminism is not anti-male. We believe feminism benefits everyone. We believe in open dialogue that avoids accusations and jargon. We believe in putting judgments aside to create a safe space for young men and women to discuss feminism.
