About Us

ICEF Public Schools is a nonprofit charter management organization (CMO) that operates 14 public charter schools serving over 4,500 students in grades K-12. The mission of ICEF Public Schools is to prepare all students to attend and compete at the top 100 colleges and universities in the nation.

ICEF has graduated seven classes of seniors with 100% of graduates accepted to college.

The Inner City Education Foundation (ICEF) was founded in 1994 as an afterschool program dedicated to engaging students in academics to fill the gap between what students needed to learn and what was taught during the day at local schools. Working closely with local parents to shape the program, these cooperative efforts gave rise to the realization that the students could learn much more if the academically oriented afterschool program lasted all day instead of focusing on making up for the low quality of education during the school day. Parents, educators and local community leaders designed ICEF’s first school together as a place where learning and democratic values would be the norm. Every student would learn to read by the end of the first semester and would later be accepted into and competitive at college.

Today, ICEF operates five elementary schools, six middle schools, and three high schools. To learn more visit: www.icefla.org.
