Nacel Open Door Academic Year Program

  • About Us

Nacel Open Door, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting international understanding and language education. Nacel Open Door believes it is essential for young people to develop a deeper awareness for their roles as citizens of the world through direct experience with other cultures.

By hosting a student from another country for an academic year or semester, a family can learn first-hand about another culture while making a lifelong friend. These lasting ties encourage continued communication and understanding of other peoples.

More than 4,000 students and families are involved in Nacel Open Door exchanges each year. American families open their homes to students from more than 20 countries (Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Paraguay, Poland, Russia, and Spain, to name a few).

Nacel Open Door is listed by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET) and is designated by the U.S. Department of State (formerly the USIA) as a J-1 Exchange Visitor Program Sponsor.
