St. Anna's Medical Mission

St. Anna's Medical Mission is a mobile health outreach program targeting the medically underserved communities (uninsured, under-insured, low income, those that lack a medical home) of the Greater New Orleans area. By taking medical care and health education to various communities utilizing our 38-foot mobile unit, we are able to reach people where they are and increase access to care. We conduct health screenings (blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol), provide general health and wellness education, and hold doctor's visits similar to a doctor's office. We assist clients to find a medical home (usually a safety-net clinic) where they can begin to establish care instead of using the emergency room as their "doctor". Empowering clients to take charge of their own health and that of their families will lead to decreased complicatons from chronic health conditions and healthier communties.

Our mobile unit goes to a different neighborhood 4 or 5 times a week. Treating all clients with respect and dignity, and returning to these sites routinely (weekly or every other week) allows us to build trust with our clients. Our services are offered free of charge to anyone who seeks them; donations are accepted. Our funding source is mainly grant driven in addition to individual and organizational donations.
