About Us

The Centro Educativo Mbaracayu is a social experiment that operates under the Moises Bertoni Foundation in the Mbaracayu Reserve in Paraguay.

Mission

Background Information

The educational center of Mbaracayu offers you the opportunity to acquire hands on experience in environmental sciences and sustainable development through our most innovative program of internships.

The Centro Educativo Mbaracayu is an educational institution only for girls and our main objective is to achieve financial self-sustainability. Through the education provided at this institution our intention is to empower rural girls to overcome poverty, become entrepreneurs of environmental sustainability and active members of their community to improve their livelihood. The Centro Educativo Mbaracayu is located inside the natural forest reserve of Mbaracayu in the eastern region of Paraguay. The reserve protects 64.406 hectares of Paraguay’s Interior Atlantic Forest, a highly threatened ecoregion that once covered 55% of eastern Paraguay. It was established to conserve the unique endemic biodiversity of flora and fauna. Mbaracayú is one of the largest remaining tracts of private owned dense humid sub-tropical forest in South America. The reserve is located inside the Mbaracayu Biosphere Reserve which has an area of 300000 hectares.
