Community Hope, Inc

Community Hope, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that provides a supportive living environment for individuals recovering from serious mental illness. Personal growth of the consumers is promoted in an atmosphere of hope and dignity.

Community Hope believes all persons with serious mental illness have the potential to live successfully in the community if they are able to view their future with hope. The elements critical to creating an attitude of confidence in their own future are encompassed in a holistic approach that looks to the total needs of the individual. They include:

Accepting each individual as they are, recognizing and making allowances for differences.

Providing care that accommodates the unique needs of each person.

Allowing the individual to make choices which are relevant to his/her own goals.

Encouraging each individual to grow to his/her maximum potential individually and socially, yet allowing for setbacks during relapses in illness.

Providing a professional, supportive staff and a variety of services that create an environment conducive to maximizing growth for each individual.

Encouraging collaboration amongst clients, staff and families.

Maximizing each individual's participation in Community Hope through inclusion in organizational planning and in client directed activities.

Facilitating interdependence that will enable each individual to develop the social networks necessary for living in the community and within a family.

Fostering client empowerment by teaching self-advocacy skills and by encouraging participation in the consumer movement.

Empowering staff to meet the challenge of caring for persons with mental illness by providing education, training and incentives that with encourage personal and professional growth.

Empowering families to cope with mental illness through education, inclusion in service planning and activities, and encouragement to participate in the family movement.

Ensuring that the Board of Directors embodies family, consumer, community and professional perspectives that will assure the achievement of Community Hope's mission.
