MAP (Mentoring Advanced Placement)

About Us

Advanced Placement (AP) is a critical component of world-class education. While research shows that the average US student is at the bottom of the list of international competition in courses such as physics and math, it is less well known that AP students score at the top. Based on these data and the idea that significant learning begins with significant relationships, MAP was founded in 2005 in Vancouver, WA to provide mentors to support students taking AP courses. MAP has grown dramatically and remains focused on its mission to challenge high school students to succeed in more rigorous academic subjects to prepare to become future leaders and innovators in the global economy. We firmly believe that many more students can succeed in rigorous AP courses – indeed we believe that the “typical” student must succeed in AP courses and we are committed to providing mentors who can be vital in helping AP students succeed.
