North Carolina Coastal Federation
To provide citizens and groups with the assistance they need to take an active role in the stewardship of North Carolina’s coastal water quality and natural resources.
Conserve the natural beauty and productivity of our coast so that it remains a great place to live, work and visit.
Who We Are
Since its grassroots formation in 1982 the federation is the state's only 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy and habitat preservation and restoration.
A diverse board of directors, including fishermen, teachers, lawyers, developers, small business owners, philanthropists and others, governs the federation. It is a statewide board of directors and it meets quarterly.
Staff and Volunteers
Eighteen professionals, including scientists, a lobbyist, educators, planners and others make up the staff. We have more than 1,200 student and adult volunteers and have partnered with more than 150 other organizations.
