About Us

Compelled by the urgency of the challenges we face and driven by a call to service, YPFP is preparing the next generation of foreign policy leaders now.

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to fostering the next generation of foreign policy leaders. Founded in 2004 and run by a team of more than 100 dedicated volunteers, YPFP has grown from a start up to a global community of 10,000 young professionals in more than 60 countries with branches in Washington, New York, London, and Brussels.

Twenty-first century challenges require new thinking, new approachesto solving problems, and new partnerships. We face a world that is more interconnected and complex than ever before. This world requires a new kind of leader. Solutions to critical global challenges do not come from any single approach or ideology, nor can they be implemented by any single organization or nation. In every arena – security, health, energy, economics, and technology – our approach to foreign policy must be innovative, interdisciplinary, and international, built upon ever-increasing unity of effort among government, business, and civil society.

We lay the foundation for collaboration by offering a diverse and unprecedented array of professional, educational, and social opportunities to our members that will prepare them to become the next generation of foreign policy leaders.

Compelled by the urgency of the challenges we face and driven by a call to service, YPFP is preparing the next generation of foreign policy leaders now.
