Peaceful Families Project

The Peaceful Families Project (PFP) is an American Muslim organization with international reach, that joins other faith communities in recognizing that domestic violence is a form of oppression that affects people of all faiths. We believe that Islam should never be used to justify abusive behavior; instead Islam should be used as a resource to prevent domestic violence.

We recognize that many cultural and institutional attitudes and beliefs perpetuate family violence, and we seek to change those attitudes and beliefs using Islamic teachings that promote justice, freedom from oppression, and family harmony.

Our mission is to promote awareness regarding the dynamics of domestic violence and to work towards ending all types of abuse in Muslim families, while recognizing the particular vulnerability of women and children.

PFP serves as a catalyst for bringing service providers and Muslim leaders together to develop collaborative relationships in order to improve community responses towards domestic violence.
