About Us

Escuelas Católicas Madrid is an organization that represents 330 Catholic schools in the Community of Madrid, with over 210,000 students and 15,000 teachers. The organization’s mission is to facilitate the development of educational projects while maintaining the core values of quality, equality, and freedom.

The BEDA Program aims to implement and optimize English learning efficiency in schools by focusing on:

  1. Qualitative and quantitative English teaching
  2. Teacher training
  3. External evaluation of student and school teaching staff progress by a highly reputable testing body – Cambridge ESOL.

The program consists of a step-by-step implementation of bilingual Spanish-English teaching and is an educational project that reinforces and extends various aspects of the linguistic community present at the school. This is accomplished by working English into the curriculum as well as the overall educational environment. Last year, the BEDA Program examined 12,000 students through the prestigious Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

There are currently over 240 Language & Culture Assistants participating in the BEDA Program from the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The program includes 298 schools—210 of which are located in Madrid, but also several in the Andalucía, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, and Murcia communities—and growing. It is an international, open, and flexible program.
