The Antisemitic Propaganda Research and Literacy Lab (APRL) is a new initiative at Georgetown University's Center for Jewish Civilization and conceived as a unique resource for policy makers, practitioners, and scholars interested in fighting anti-Jewish propaganda online and in our communities.
We identify, analyze, and track dangerous antisemitic messages, images, movements and frames and the people who propagate them. While many organizations in this space depend solely on algorithms to drive quantitive data approaches, we pair empirical, “big data” collection methods using cutting edge software and qualitative explication and analysis anchored in a strong foundation of history. We distribute our findings through Congressional outreach, media placements, lectures, and social media products.
APRL is also a place for experiential learning for undergraduate students. Teaching through praxis, we empower Georgetown students as integral to researching and reporting on antisemitic propaganda. We believe that armed with situational awareness and a deep understanding of the nature of antisemitism and its driving narratives, we can build a cohort of future leaders committed to arresting the alarming trend of hate crimes directed at Jews and other minorities in the United States and beyond.
