Panzi Foundation

Panzi Hospital and Foundation (Panzi) is dedicated to providing survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo with access to compassionate, comprehensive care. Founded by 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Denis Mukwege, the organization is world-renowned for its four-pillar holistic healing model, which combines access to medical treatment with psychosocial support, socio-economic reintegration activities, and access to legal services. Since its inception in 1999, it has treated over 80,000 survivors.

In addition to its holistic healing model, Panzi is also known for its advocacy efforts at the international, national, regional, and community level. Dr. Mukwege and the Panzi staff are some of the leading experts on the root causes of sexual violence as a weapon of war in DRC, the role that conflict minerals play in the ongoing humanitarian and geopolitical crisis, and on the need to end impunity and seek justice in order to bring peace to the country.
