About Us

Center for Education and Development (CED), a nonprofit, non-governmental local organization, was established in 1992 with the main aim of the advancement of education and development mainly in the context of Somalia. CED improves the quality of education, creates chances for education for more students and generates peace and development through education. CED works with poor local communities through sustainable community development programs to overcome ignorance, disease, hunger, poverty, injustice and inequality.

CED vision is Somalia in peace without limited literacy skills, injustice and poverty where people respect human rights, law and order and every person experiences education, justice, dignity, security and equal access to resources.

CED is dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through education, humanitarian and development programs. CED works with local communities, institutions and persons in need in Somalia.

CED programs focus, but not limited to the following:

1. Education 2. Income generating 3. Peace Building, Capacity Building, Reconciliation and Demobilization 4. Food Security/Infrastructure rehabilitation 5. Health 6. Environmental Protection 7. Women’s Development 8. Human Rights 9. Emergency Aid/Humanitarian Assistance
