    Project Alice is an non-governmental organization (N.G.O.) registered as such in Varanasi in 1994 (no. 431).

    Project Alice includes a series of schools and educational projects in rural India (Uttar Pradesh and Bihar). The first school (in Sarnath) was started in February 1994. The school currently educates 400 students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Each year one grade is added. In 1999, a new school opened in Bodh Gaya, India. Project Alice schools are recognized and approved by the Indian government.

    Project Alice is based on a holistic approach to education. The normal Indian curriculum is supplemented by philosophy, meditation, yoga, and martial arts.

    Project Alice also trains teachers and social workers; runs evening school programs for adults and child laborers; special education programs for women; and education programs for street children in Sarnath and Bodh Gaya.
