CADRE - Community Asset Development Re-defining Education
- Los Angeles
Started in 2001, CADRE is an independent community-based, individual membership organization in South Los Angeles. Our mission is to solidify and advance parent leadership to ensure that all children are rightfully educated regardless of where they live. CADRE is led by African American and Latino parents/caregivers whose children attend South LA schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). We work for systemic change by supporting parents as the leaders in stopping the pushout crisis in schools serving low-income neighborhoods of color. Through capacity building, political education, advocacy, and community organizing, CADRE is a vehicle for parents to hold public schools accountable, effect policy change, and mobilize the political will to preserve and expand the right to education for all South LA children.
